Safe Sleep Starts Here
Learn the ABCDs of Safe Sleep and help ensure every baby has a safe place to rest—every nap, every night, every time.
Family Village is a regional affiliate for Cribs for Kids, a national program to prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and help every baby sleep more safely. One way we remember the keys to preventing SIDS is by talking about the ABCDs of Safe Sleep; babies should always be ALONE, on their BACK, in a CRIB, and DON’T SMOKE around the baby or with smoke in your clothing or furniture where the baby is.
At Family Village, we know that the safest place for a baby to sleep is in their crib or bassinet. But when families don’t have a safe space for the baby to sleep, they may be referred by their healthcare provider or another social service agency to our Cribs for Kids program. Trained Safe Sleep Ambassadors provide a short educational program about safe sleep, infant development, and preventing SIDS. At the end of that class, eligible families receive a Cribs for Kids ‘cribette’ as well as a crib sheet and instructions on how to safely set up the cribette at home.
Every caregiver needs to know the ABCDs of Safe Sleep, and every baby needs a safe place to sleep for every nap and with every caregiver. Our Safe Sleep Ambassadors are available to come out to healthcare institutions, first responder sites, and to other community-based organizations to provide education on Safe Sleep and Preventing SIDS.
